Sophomore Year... over

Way too much for me to reflect on in a single xanga entry... it kinda hurts my head even thinking about everything... but it was pretty successful in many ways... had some successful events (cu film festival, culture shock, Raw performances, etc.)... had some adventures (almost froze to death in the mountains)... and otherwise had a chillax sophomore year with friends of new and old... i would love to expand upon this, but it would feel too much like homework... but anyway i'll be in the city following a weeklong bike trip with Kai down the East coast. So for all of the rest of the summer I'll be workin at columbia, so gimme a ring if ure in the city... So to the art updates

This year, I took oil painting and I almost forgot how fun and messy oil painting actually is... this is a picture of what i think my future boss would look like... as a monarch butterfly

Happy Holidays to Everyone! Hope you are all doing well...

So let's keep this xanga entry simple and sexy: 1.) Kittens, 2.) Artwork, and 3.) JOY

How cute are these cats???  Here's a little timeline of them so far... they're about 4 months old now... The grumpy mother is Hera... the cute, clumsy boy is Apollo (the white and orange one)... the flaming, kinky boy/girl is Artemis (the white and black one)... the sexy and bitchy girl is Aphrodite (the white one)... the sexy girl there is Kai

Some art pieces done throughout the first semester:

(Study: Replication of a Nude)

(Study: Abstraction of the portrait)

(Study: Replication of a Nude)

(Bad hair day... sorry Kai)

(Mount Hand)

(Reclined nude)

(Nude in red)

and of course KEEPIN THE JOY ALIVE!

*Most, if not all, the pics were taken by Calvin Sun... if you're a cute, single girl, please click his name to visit his xanga... he's been waiting for you

Okay... gather around boys and girls, let me tell you a story

It's about a few friends, a season, and a city...

It's about conflict...

It's about curiosity...

It's about battling shirtless, scary breakdancers in the street...

It's about swimming across the Hudson River and getting caught by the cops...

It's about jumping out of a plane 2.5 miles in the air...

It's about finding a cat (and the cat subsequently having kitties)...

It's about causing chaos...

It's about Joy

It's about the people you meet and the friends you make...

Only in the city... only in the summer...

Yet another update WITHIN the same month.  You could tell how bored I am at work.

The film festival went pretty well.  We had a much better reception than i anticipated AND me and Cal def got the best dressed award.  Some of the other films in the festival were pretty good (but most were meh).  Go buy "The Motel" if it ever gets distributed in the US... it's a great film period (regardless of ethnicity of actors/director).

Other than that, things have been pretty chill in the city.  No big plans confirmed yet for the rest of the summer, though i'd like to plan a mini-road trip sometime towards the end of August (beach/sixflags anyone?)

As far as art stuff goes, I've been playin around with computer illustration, which has been an entertaining diversion:

I made a few versions of this one, but I opted for the simplest one, cause simplicity is awesome and sexy.  It was originally just the buildings, but I thought it was missing something, so I added the two ppl on the roof which I thought made it more complete.  Made 100% w/ Adobe Illustrator CS.

This one was fun to make... used a few layers of random objects to make the piles... 90% Adobe Illustrator 10% Photoshop

So that's it for now... not much of an update, but what could ya do
